Welcome
The University of Washington Geo-Institute
Graduate Student Society is comprised
of Geotechnical Engineering graduate students at the UW. The purpose of
GIGSS is
to host presentations from professors, scholars, scientists, and
practicing engineers,
allowing students to see the current and future state of practice
surrounding our
field. It also impresses upon our students the need for being a part of
professional societies. Typically, GIGSS lecture audiences
are comprised of Geotechnical faculty and students; however,
since announcement is distributed to topic-related departments at UW
and engineers in local firms, we also have a good mix of structural
engineers, geologists and local practicing engineers. Our seminar runs
from the fall through spring quarters. If you have any questions about
our seminar series and activities, please feel free to contact Tyler Stephens,
GIGSS President for 2008 by e-mail at tjs9@u.washington.edu.
Thanks,
Tyler
